WOVEN
Besides having the makings of an excellent den, the Woven desk by Belgian student Bram Vanderbeke also tackles a key issue in workplace design: finding a middleground between privacy and connectivity. Made from eight wooden slats artfully plaited together to form an oversized basket, its construction creates a personal space for concentrating on work, yet doesn’t hinder social contact, instead keeping the user more in touch with their surroundings. It’s aesthetically simple and beautifully executed – which isn’t something people say about desk cubicles every day.
