Black Column

2016

The massive, inhabitable Black Column adds a new space to an existing one – a refuge to escape the surrounding rush and commotion, a shelter to temporarily live in. The Black Column is a free-standing/ autonomous, one-to-one re-interpretation of the Absorbing Column, a part of Bram’s Extruded Expressions. The shape of the column clearly shows its interior and exterior – indicating both its secluding and its sculptural qualities. Through the openings/ apertures in its surfaces, the inhabited volume permits its user to maintain an overview on all sides.
